Student Athletes and Business
I just had some thoughts, I wanted to make about student athletes. The reason for this conversation is because I don’t feel that this type of individual gets enough credit with the things they help bring about. So just as more of a backdrop on what I mean. The specific type of person I want to highlight is the one In high school that made above standard grades, received college letters to attend a college just not athletic scholarship money, however, was one of the best In players in their Conference, just did not get the support needed to go to the next level. The person has plenty of heart so they may walk on, or play ball overseas after college. This was my scenario. There was a time where I struggled with the lack of acceptance. from my Division 1 college program. The politics of the coaches creating a spot for me or not was a very frustrating process. I was allowed to interact and practice with the team. I found it much more satisfying by playing later on overseas on my company's Army base team The Heidelberg Generals.
I was fortunate enough to take that on for a year before, doing something else. This was being done for the love of basketball and there was no pay for playing. I know that that I am not the only person that has gone through these changes. The things I have learned certainly have benefited me. I have worked for those that have appreciated what I can bring to the table, in terms of dedication and commitment. I also have worked around those that have not. I know how it feels as someone that seemingly gets overlooked but deserves the attention. I can sense and appreciate those same type of folks. Maybe a video can explain things even better.
